Life Cycle Costs - why OMNI RSFs make sense:

a. Electricity costs are 1/7 than that of extended aeration technologies (majority of competition). The OMNI Recirculating Sand Filter is cycled on for 2 minutes every 15 minutes for a total run time of 192 minutes per month. The compressor on an extended aeration unit runs 1440 minutes per month. Therefore, the electricity costs are about $72 per year for the RSF and $540 per year for the extended aeration technology. Carried forward for the twenty year system cost the figure would be $1440 for the RSF and $10,800 for the extended aeration unit based on 2008 electricity charges.

b. Maintenance costs are 1/2 the cost than extended aeration technology promoted by competitors based on the anticipated replacement of the recirculation pump, or blower, every 5 years. The cost of a pump is $250 and one hour to change out while the cost of a blower is $560 and one hour to change out. At $85 per hour to change either device, the cost of replacing the pump is $335, and the blower is $645. Over the 20 year life of the system the costs are $1340 and $2580 respectively.

c. Total life span cost of ownership will be $2780 for the OMNI RSF and $13,380 for the Extended Aeration technology. Therefore, the RSF technology offers a $10,600 lifecycle savings on a 3 or 4 bedroom property. Savings based on larger flows would be substantially larger.
