Effluent testing is conducted in a manner in which is sanitary and provides results of the systems performance at the time the sample was taken.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will take a "grab" sample from the manifold that is inside of the Recirculation Tank with a dip cup. The collected sample is immediately stored in plastic sterile bottles that have all the necessary system information on them, which includes: system location, time, date and preservative.
After the samples are collected, they are stored in a cooler and put on ice for shipment to the laboratory. Results usually take 10 business days to come back. Upon receipt of the results, they are logged into our system and then reported to the local Boards of Health and the Department of Environmental Protection.
