1. Does the Filter Media ever need to be changed?
NO, the Filter Media used in the OMNI RSF will last for the life of the system. The ONLY circumstance that could require excavation of this material would the intrusion of a foreign substance that could not be manually flushed out (i.e. oil, hazards wastes, high level of silt or clay) or any other type of material the could render the filter bed service impermeable.

2. Is a Maintenance Agreement required?
Yes, a Maintenance Agreement will be in place for the LIFE of the SYSTEM. This requirement will transfer with the property deed and is mandated by both state and local authorities.

4. Can anyone provide maintenance services for RSFs in Massachusetts?
NO. Only DEP-Certified Municipal Wastewater Plant Operators, with at minimum a Level II status, are permitted to service RSFs.

5. Should there be any smell?
NO. The type of bacteria that produce hydrogen sulfide (the smell) are located within the septic tank only. The FILTER MODULES contain aerobic bacteria, which do not produce any offensive odors.

6. How much electricity does the system use?
The 0.4 hp pump that is used runs for approximately 4-7 minutes per hour accumulating approximate electricity costs of $40.00 per year.

7. How often should the system be pumped?
The pumping schedule for the system is determined by the amount of use. Typically systems should be pumped once every 1-3 years.

8. What is the life expectancy of an OMNI RSF?
For life! If properly operated and maintained, OMNI RSFs will operate effectively for decades.
